All public and private educational institutions, such as primary schools, lower secondary schools, special schools, grammar schools and vocational schools, can benefit from Telekom@School.
The subsidised fibre-optic connections provided as part of the Telekom@School scheme offer schools a stable and high-performance internet connection. The entry-level package includes a download speed of up to 300 Mbit/s. Depending on requirements and technical availability, bandwidths can be upgraded to 600 Mbit/s, 1 Gbit/s or up to 2 Gbit/s.
The upload speed for all packages is half the respective download speed, thereby enabling seamless data transfer for cloud services, learning platforms and video conferences.
To ensure optimal network access for end devices such as PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones, a suitable network solution or the use of an IP router (to be purchased separately) is required.

With the Telekom@School connection, Deutsche Telekom is laying the foundations for introducing all schoolchildren to digital media and enabling them to use these tools in school projects and in the classroom – learning with digital media. In order to meet the demands of tomorrow, the use of computers and the internet must be encouraged in schools from an early stage. The Telekom@School connections are intended exclusively for educational purposes.
The use of the Telekom@School connection for administrative tasks or technical processes relating to the running of the school is expressly prohibited.

If your school’s location is not yet connected to the fibre-optic network, you can connect via a standard DSL connection. You can find information on suitable alternatives in the Business DSL tariffs or the Business DSL Premium packages. These offer a reliable temporary solution until fibre-optic broadband becomes available in your area.
Telekom@School has been supporting schools on their journey towards a digital future for more than 25 years. As part of our current reorientation, we are focusing our support on fibre-optic connections in order to meet the increased performance requirements of modern school IT. This decision is based on three developments: firstly, technological progress towards gigabit-capable networks; secondly, the nationwide roll-out of fibre-optic infrastructure in Germany; and thirdly, the growing demand from educational institutions for FTTH connections and higher bandwidths.
According to the Federal Government’s Broadband Atlas, around 80 per cent of schools already have a broadband connection with a speed of at least 1 Gbit/s. Telekom alone has so far connected more than 11,600 school sites via its fibre-optic network – an important foundation for high-performance digital learning.
Existing Telekom@School connections will remain active and unchanged. You can switch from existing Telekom@School Surf-Only tariffs (ADSL, VDSL, FTTH) to the new Telekom@School FiberBoost tariffs at any time, provided that the school in question is covered by the service.
