Here are a few recommendations to help you set up a secure and productive virtual lecture theatre:
Set a password: Set up a password for the meeting or webinar and share it with the participants of your course or webinar. This ensures that only those with the password can enter your virtual lecture theatre.
Only allow registered participants to join: You can enable mandatory registration via Zoom for meetings and webinars. This way, you can see who has signed up to attend your course or lecture. You can also manually approve each registered user and decide who is allowed to attend your lectures.
Enable waiting rooms: By setting up waiting rooms, you can prevent participants from joining a meeting automatically. You can then choose to admit participants either individually or all at once. You can also allow students who are logged in via your faculty’s domain to bypass the waiting room. You will then need to grant access to all other participants individually.
Disable screen sharing: In the settings, specify that only the host can share their screen. This prevents participants from displaying unwanted or distracting content. If you want other users to share content during the lecture, you can adjust this in the settings and choose to allow or disallow screen sharing during the meeting.
Disable private chat: As the host, you can disable the chat function so that participants cannot send each other private messages. The option to message the lecturers and ask for help will remain available.
Manage participants: If someone who is not authorised to attend the lecture or course is present, you can quickly remove them. For more information on managing participants and restricting functions, please visit our Support Centre.
Lock the meeting: Click the security icon to lock the meeting room so that no participants can join once it has started. This prevents uninvited guests from joining and also allows you to quickly identify who did not arrive on time for the event.
