Open Data Portal for Urban Life

The Data Intelligence Hub enables the secure exchange and publication of municipal data – in full compliance with the Open Data Act. Via the integrated marketplace, data can be made available, combined and used for applications relating to transport, the environment and urban infrastructure. IoT and sensor data can be analysed, creating new value for citizens, the public sector and the local economy.

Developing data-driven innovations

Public authorities can optimise their own processes using data – for example, by analysing processing times or cross-agency workflows. Any missing information can be supplemented via the marketplace. At the same time, the platform facilitates collaboration with data experts and the use of modern analytical tools.

Secure data transfer

Data that is not intended to be made public can be shared securely and selectively with specific recipients. The Data Intelligence Hub acts as a neutral data trustee, offering end-to-end encryption and GDPR-compliant rights management. The data is transferred directly between the parties involved in a decentralised manner – without being stored by Telekom.

The City of Bonn is a key client in the public sector

The city of Bonn uses the Data Intelligence Hub as a central data platform for urban life and will in future make freely accessible municipal data available there. Through the citizens’ portal, residents of Bonn can access a wide range of information – such as details of places of interest, Wi-Fi hotspots, taxi ranks and rubbish collection dates. 

Bonn already collects a wide range of data, for example via traffic and environmental sensors that provide information on traffic conditions, air quality and water quality. Via the Data Intelligence Hub, such data sources can be aggregated, analysed and used for forecasting – for example, for air quality forecasts, traffic analyses or parking space management.
Other areas of application range from smart lighting and optimised waste management to data-driven applications for a sustainable and liveable city.
