Digital sovereignty starts with the signature

Digitalisation should have been a reality in the public sector for some time now. Projects and initiatives are making progress in many areas – yet when it comes to particularly sensitive processes, such as digital document signing, many public authorities are faced with a key question: Who can we entrust our data and documents to – securely, in compliance with the law and without losing control?

Many solutions on the market rely on integration with international providers – often with server locations outside Europe. These solutions not only create technical dependencies but also entail significant risks in terms of data protection, compliance and data sovereignty. A particularly critical issue is that many digital signature solutions allow access to content in plain text, which can pose a massive threat to the confidentiality and integrity of official documents.

Achieve digital independence with Magenta Security Sign

Magenta Security Sign, the new signature platform from Telekom Security, offers public sector organisations a reliable alternative: a fully European, trustworthy and secure signature solution – specifically designed to meet the requirements of the public sector.

Signatures are processed exclusively in the T-Cloud and at Deutsche Telekom’s Trust Centre – both of which are operated in Germany in accordance with strict data protection guidelines. The platform follows the ‘zero-document-knowledge’ principle. This means that at no point do external providers or internal systems have access to the contents of the documents. The documents remain encrypted at all times, and third-party access is prevented.

Magenta Security Sign therefore not only meets the technical requirements, but also the highest standards in data protection and IT security – it is compliant with both the GDPR and eIDAS.

Development with the public sector – not just for the public sector

A key element in the development of Magenta Security Sign was close collaboration with customers in the public sector. Even before the product was officially available on the market, it was tested and further developed during an intensive pilot phase involving various cities, local authorities and regional government bodies.

This early involvement made it possible to tailor the platform precisely to the actual needs and processes within the public sector. Public authorities acted not only as testers but also as active contributors – an approach that is reflected in the high level of acceptance and positive user experience.

The response was overwhelmingly positive: shortly after its launch, the solution spread rapidly within local government networks and was welcomed by many decision-makers as a long-awaited solution to the challenges posed by digital signatures.

A step towards the future – confident, secure, scalable

Magenta Security Sign provides public sector organisations with a solution that is consistently designed to ensure digital sovereignty, confidentiality and legal certainty. The application remains simple and user-friendly, without compromising on security.

The benefits at a glance:

  • Digital signatures with full data sovereignty in Germany
  • Zero-Document-Knowledge principle: No third-party access to document content
  • Legally valid and eIDAS-compliant
  • GDPR-compliant data processing in the T-Cloud
  • Developed in close collaboration with the authorities

With this solution, Deutsche Telekom is laying a solid foundation for trustworthy digital administrative processes – and supporting local authorities and public bodies on their path towards greater transparency, efficiency and independence.
